Fix 1. Restart Steam/Restart Your PC

  • This is one of the quickest fixes.
  • Restart your steam and then try to launch the game.
  • If that doesn’t help then simply restart your PC and then launch the Tomb Raider I-III Remastered and check.

Fix 2. Run Tomb Raider I-III Remastered as an Admin

  • Open Steam. Right-click on “Tomb Raider I-III Remastered” and click on Manage > Browse local files.
  • It will open the Game Installation folder.
  • Right-click on “tomb123” exe file and select “Properties”.
  • Go to “Compatibility” tab and tick mark “Run this program as an administrator”.
  • Then click on “Apply” and “OK”.
  • Now, launch the game from the installation folder, from here itself and check problem is solved or not.

Fix 3. Modify Compatibility Settings of Tomb Raider I-III Remastered

  • If running the game as admin does not work, then tick mark “Disable fullscreen optimizations”.
  • Also, tick mark “Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 8/Windows 7. Click Apply and OK.
  • Now, launch the game from the installation folder and check.

Fix 4. Modify Game Launch Options

  • Open Steam. Right-click on Tomb Raider I-III Remastered game and select “Properties”.
  • In the Launch Options, type “-nolegal” and close the tab.
  • Now, launch the game and check if it solves your issue or not.
  • If not, then type “-dx11” or “-dx12” or “-novsync” in Launch Options and then check.

Fix 5. Disable Overlays

  • Disable Steam Overlay: Go to your Steam Library > right-click Tomb Raider I-III Remastered > Properties > Turn off “Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game”.
  • Disable Discord Overlay: Launch Discord on your PC. Then click on “Gear” icon in the app bottom left corner. Click on “Game Overlay” on the left panel and then toggle off the “Enable In-Game Overlay”.
  • Disable Nvidia Overlay: Open Nvidia GeForce Experience > Settings > General > Turn off “In-Game Overlay”.

Similarly, disable overlay in all apps or close all other overlay apps. (GeForce Experience, Nvidia shadow play overlay, AMD overlay)

And then launch the game and check.

Fix 6. Disable HDR On Your PC

  • On your PC, click on “Windows” icon and click on Settings.
  • On the left click on System and then click on “Display”.
  • Then click on HDR. From here, you can turn off HDR option.
  • Launch the game and check.

Fix 7. Update Graphics Card Driver

To Update NVIDIA: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/

To Update AMD: https://www.amd.com/en/support

Select your correct Graphics card driver and update it.

After updating the Graphics card driver, launch Tomb Raider I-III Remastered and see if your problem is fixed or not.

Fix 8. Run Tomb Raider I-III Remastered on Dedicated Graphics Card

  • In Windows Search, type “Graphics Settings” and open it.
  • Click on “Browse” and add “tomb123” exe file.
  • To do this, go to Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Select “tomb123” exe file and click on “Add”.
  • Click on tomb123 and then on Options and select “High Performance” and then click on “Save”. Now, launch the game and check.

  • On your PC, click on “Windows” icon and click on Settings.
  • On the left, click on “Privacy & security” and then click on “Windows Security”.

  • Click on “Change settings” and then click on “Allow another app”.
  • Then click on “Browse” and add tomb123 exe file.
  • Go to Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Tomb Raider I-III Remastered folder.
  • Select “tomb123” exe file and add it.

Fix 11. Clear Download Cache

  • Open Steam, click on the word Steam at the top left and select “Settings”.
  • Go to “Downloads” tab and then click on “Clear Cache” next to Clear Download Cache.

Fix 12. Verify Integrity of Game Files

  • Open Steam and go to Library. Right-click on Tomb Raider I-III Remastered and select “Properties”.
  • Go to “Installed Files” tab and then click on “Verify integrity of game files”.
  • Now, check if your problem is solved or not.

Fix 13. Close Conflicting Programs

  • Disconnect external USB drive, mouse, disconnect additional joystick/controllers, multiple monitor connected to PC.

  • Close all of your tabs to free up RAM and relaunch the game.

Fix 15. Increase Virtual Memory

  • Click on Windows icon and click on “Settings”.
  • On the left side, click on “System” and then click on “Advanced system settings”.
  • From the Advanced tab, under Performance, click on Settings.
  • Go to Advancedtab, under Virtual Memory, click on Change.
  • Uncheck‘Automatically manage paging file size for all drives’.
  • Select yourWindows drive (usually C:).
  • Choose ‘Custom size’ and set the ‘Initial size’ and ‘Maximum size’.
  • (Set Initial Size: 1.5 x Total RAM & Maximum Size: 3 x Total RAM)

For example, if your PC Installed RAM is 16GB, then enter the value as follows:

  • Initial Size (MB): 24576
  • Maximum Size (MB): 49152

If your PC Installed RAM is 32GB, then enter the value as follows:

  • Initial Size (MB): 49152
  • Maximum Size (MB): 98304

If your PC Installed RAM is 8GB, then enter the value as follows:

  • Initial Size (MB): 12288
  • Maximum Size (MB): 24576

Click ‘Set’ and then ‘OK’.

Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Fix 16. Uninstall and Re-Install Tomb Raider I-III Remastered

If nothing seems to work, then uninstall Tomb Raider I-III Remastered game from your PC.

Restart your PC and re-install the game and then check.
