To change your username, you need to tap on your name, then enter the name that you like to have as your username and tap on Save.

To change your contacts follow the below steps:
Step 1: Go to WhatsApp’s Settings > Profile Photo.
Step 2: Tap on your phone number on the profile page.
Step 3: After this, tap on Next button and write the old and new phone contacts in the provided space. The number that you are providing as a new number should be active and it must be present in your phone.
Step 4: Then again tap on Next button.
Step 5: Now, you will get an OTP on your new mobile number to verify ownership. The app will automatically detect the OTP, if it doesn’t do then enter it manually and proceed. You will get 3 options to notify your contacts of your new WhatsApp contacts.
Note: Remember that once you change your number all your account details, settings, and groups will be transferred to the new number. Also, your payment methods will be removed and if there are any pending payments then they will get canceled. If you are using the same mobile to change your WhatsApp no. then your conversations/chat history will not be deleted. It is only possible if you have a dual SIM phone. But, if you are not using the same phone number, then also you don’t need to worry, simply create a backup of your chat history before changing the number.
