How To Fix Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Crashing/Not Loading/Not Launching/Black Screen on PC

Fix 1. Restart Steam/PC

Restart your steam and then try to launch the game.
If that doesn’t help then simply restart your PC and then check.

Tip: Run Steam as an admin and then launch the Hellblade 2 and check.

Fix 2. Run Hellblade 2 as an Admin

Open Steam. Right-click on “Hellblade 2” and click on Manage > Browse local files.
It will open the Game Installation folder. The path is – C:\Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Hellblade 2.
Right-click on “Hellblade2” exe file and select “Properties”.
Go to “Compatibility” tab and tick mark “Run this program as an administrator”.
Then click on “Apply” and “OK”.
Now, launch the game from the installation folder, from here itself and check problem fixed or not.

Fix 3. Modify Compatibility Settings of Hellblade 2

If running the game as admin does not work, then tick mark “Disable fullscreen optimizations”.
Also, tick mark “Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 8 or Windows 7. Click Apply and OK.
Now, launch the game from the installation folder and check.

Fix 4. Allow Hellblade 2 Through Firewall/Antivirus

In Window Search type “Windows Security” and click on it.
Click on “Firewall and network protection” and then click on “Allow an app through firewall”.
Click on “Change settings” and then click on “Allow another app”.
Then click on “Browse” and add Hellblade 2 exe file.
Browse to Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Hellblade 2.
Select “Hellblade2” exe file and add it.
After adding it, make sure both Private and Public is ticked marked.

Note: Also, allow Hellblade 2 through an antivirus program or disable it for a while.

Fix 5. Close Conflicting/Unnecessary Programs

Disconnect external USB drive, mouse, disconnect additional joystick/controllers, multiple monitor connected to PC.
Unplug the Logitech or Thrustmaster racing wheel.
End the task for Razer Synapse or MSI Dragon Center from Task Manager.
Close all of your tabs to free up RAM and relaunch the game.

Fix 6. Modify Game Launch Options

Open Steam. Right-click on Hellblade 2 game and select “Properties”.
In the Launch Options, type “-dx11” and close the tab.
Now, launch the game and check if it solves your issue or not.
If not, then type “-dx12” or “-windowed” in Launch Options and then check.

Fix 7. Disable Overlays

Disable Steam Overlay: Go to your Steam Library > right-click Hellblade 2 > Properties > Turn off “Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game”.
Disable Discord Overlay: Launch Discord on your PC. Then click on “Gear” icon in the app bottom left corner. Click on “Game Overlay” on the left panel and then toggle off the “Enable In-Game Overlay”.
Disable Nvidia Overlay: Open Nvidia GeForce Experience > Settings > General > Turn off “In-Game Overlay”.

Similarly, disable overlay in all apps or close all other overlay apps. (GeForce Experience, Nvidia shadow play overlay, AMD overlay)

Now launch the game and check.

Fix 8. Update Graphics Card Driver

To Update NVIDIA: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/
To Update AMD: https://www.amd.com/en/support
Select your correct Graphics card driver and update it.
After updating the Graphics card driver, launch Hellblade 2 and see if your problem is fixed or not.

Fix 9. Run Hellblade 2 on Dedicated Graphics Card

In Windows Search, type “Graphics Settings” and open it.
Click on “Browse” and add “Hellblade 2” exe file.
To do this, browse to Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Hellblade 2.
Select “Hellblade2” exe file and click on “Add”.
After adding, click on Hellblade 2 and then on Options and select “High Performance” and then click on “Save”.
Now, launch game and check.

Fix 10. Install Visual C++ Files

Go to: Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable latest supported downloads.
Download and install both X86 and X64 Visual C++ Files and install it.
Restart your PC. Launch the game and see if problem solved or not.

Fix 11. Clear Download Cache

Open Steam, click on word Steam at top left and select “Settings”.
Go to “Downloads” tab and then click on “Clear Cache” next to Clear Download Cache.

Fix 12. Verify Integrity of Game Files

Open Steam and go to Library. Right-click on Hellblade 2 and select “Properties”.
Go to “Installed Files” tab and then click on “Verify integrity of game files”.
Now, check if your problem is solved or not.

Fix 13. Update Windows

Click on Windows icon and then click on Settings.
On the left click on “Windows Update” and then click on “Check for updates”.

Restart your PC and then launch the game.

Fix 14. Increase Virtual Memory

In Windows Search, type view advanced system settings and click on it.
Go to Advanced tab, under Performance, click on Settings.
Go to Advanced tab, under Virtual Memory, click on Change.
Uncheck‘Automatically manage paging file size for all drives’.
Select your Windows drive where you installed the game. (Usually C:).
Choose ‘Custom size’ and set the ‘Initial size’ and ‘Maximum size’.
(Set Initial Size: 1.5 x Total RAM & Maximum Size: 3 x Total RAM)

For example, if your PC Installed RAM is 16GB, then enter the value as follows:

Initial Size (MB): 24576
Maximum Size (MB): 49152

If your PC Installed RAM is 32GB, then enter the value as follows:

Initial Size (MB): 49152
Maximum Size (MB): 98304

Click ‘Set’ and then ‘OK’.

Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Fix 15. Uninstall and Re-Install Hellblade 2

If none of the fixes work for you, then uninstall Hellblade 2 game from your PC.

Restart your PC and re-install the game and then check.
